Bill Thomas' Story

Bill Thomas

Bill Thomas grew up on the golf courses of Springfield, Ohio, caddying for 25 cents a game for 18 holes. He would give what he earned to his mom for family expenses. Years later, Bill would return to those same courses as an avid golfer, earning several trophies on the links. Next to his family, golf was his passion.

Alzheimer’s robbed Bill of his golf game and even some of his memories of his golfing triumphs. But at the Springfield Masonic Community Pathways Center for Alzheimer’s Care, Bill gets help from staff in reconnecting with his past. Like every resident of Pathways, a memory box outside Bill’s room displays mementos from his life. Bill’s memory box includes golf paraphernalia. Sometimes, Bill can still recall some of his golfing memories, which always brings a smile to his face. But Alzheimer’s Disease has made it tough. Being at Pathways in his hometown, with his wife and family close by, and near one of the courses where he spent so much time means a lot. At the same time, he gets the finest care around for the treatment of Alzheimer’s Disease.

The Pathways Center for Alzheimer’s Care is devoted to a rehabilitative process that helps residents remain as independent as possible. By participating in the Jim Perry Legends Golf Classic, you are supporting Bill and others like him as they live with this devastating disease. Proceeds from The Jim Perry Legends Golf Classic will ensure the continued provision of quality care to residents of Springfield Masonic Community’s Pathways Center for Alzheimer’s Care.
